More House Updates!

The boys have been busy! We finished pouring the concrete for our basement on November 14th, this meaning all the walls, and floor is done! This is just in time since all of Andy’s family, except for his parents :(, are coming to our house for Thanksgiving to help us frame. I figured before all of that excitement takes place I should post some pictures of the previous wall pours and floor pour. It is so exciting to see it all taking shape. I think we should have a rollerblading party on our new floor! YAY!

We filled these holes with cement for footers. It seems weird to me too.

There it is all framed up and ready for concrete!



The forms we used are SOO heavy and awkward. At least for me. After each use we have to scrap each one and spray them with form oil.



Another view. To form it up so the concrete wont end up bowing the walls we have to put 2x4's up all over the place to make it extra sturdy!

They use that little box on top of the wall like a funnel so the concrete doesn't go everywhere.

I was trying to be artistic with my photos.



I thought this was so funny. The cement truck driver had his head in the hole.

I guess the cement was having troubles coming out of the chute, so Andy climbed up the chute to help it out.

This is a vibrator. You put it down through the cement and it helps to make it smooth on the sides so there isn't "honeycomb". It's a lot nicer than tapping every inch of the wall.
