We went camping over Labor Day this year, twice. Andy's family usually does this every year to get firewood. It's kind of tradition.
On Friday night we went camping by Kenny's cabin with Andy's parents and Steve & Shauna. We filled up 3 trucks and a trailer with firewood and then everyone headed Saturday night so we could be to church on Sunday.
Then on Sunday after church we headed back up the mountain with just our little family, and went to a different spot and set up camp again. We took our baseball mits and bats and played a little baseball. We took our axes and leatherman's and carved wood. We went on a drive looking for wildlife and found a fun cabin to explore in. We had lots of yummy snacks, and we eneded up with another big load of firewood. Actually, it was so big that our trailer ended up with a flat tire that Andy had to fix while I tried to keep the boys entertained. Andy also found a big tree that he wanted really bad because the whole thing was pitch. So he made sure he got all of it, but at a price! He ended up smashing the tail light on his truck because one of the logs was so heavy and bent the tail gate down.
The boys all did so good sleeping, well as good as little boys and a baby can do while camping in a cold tent, and they played hard and got super dirty. I think we may make this a tradition for us too!
