House Update - WE'RE IN!!!!!

Holy cow! When we broke ground on our house last fall, I never thought this day would come. I cannot express how happy I am and how grateful I am to Andy for all of his hard work in making this dream come true for us.

A few Saturdays ago on November 7th, 2009 we moved in to our very comfortable, but not quite finished home. We had a big "moving party" and invited all the girls to help me clean and all of the guys to help Andy frame up the front porch. We had a good turnout of family and because of all of them we were able to move our bed in that night and sleep the first night in our new home. It was so nice. Andy was so excited to be able to walk around with out his shoes on.

When we moved in:

• The upstairs bedrooms are only sheet rocked and mudded and are not painted and do not have floor coverings


• The upstairs bathroom is very unfinished, but the toilet works


• The stairs do not have carpet or railing


• The front door has a temporary door knob and no casing


• The laundry room doesn't have any cabinets, but is painted and does have floor coverings


• The office is serving as Dodger's room, actually it is serving as a storage room for the time being and Dodger is sleeping in the family room in a pack-n-play.


• Andy made some nice temporarty cabinets for the kitchen. We have to open cabinets on the wall and a counter with our sink in it in the middle of the kitchen. Then for our counters around the edge we have folding tables up.


• The pantry didn't have any shelves, now 2 weeks later it is fully finished.


• The coat closet was empty, and is now finished


• The guest bathroom is mostly finished except for the cabinet under the sink


• Our master bath is NOT finished


• Our closets have rods to hang clothes on.


• The living room is done except for the fire place that doesn't have doors on it and it doesn't have a mantel. (The doors have now been installed)


• We don't have an blinds or window coverings up, except for some sheets in our bedroom and a shower curtain and table cloth in Dodgers room.


• Back Patio is not framed


• Garage and mud room have not been started and the cement has not been poured.


• We do not have dishwasher


• We don't have T.V or internet

2 more very good little helpers! They had fun for a little while but quickly became bored with the cleaning project and ended up over at my sister Michelle's to play with Alex and Dodger.

Our first problem:

On Sunday morning the day after we moved in, Andy ran downstairs to get a tool and noticed water all over the basement floor. So after cutting a hole in the wall he found the problem. The water line coming into the house had been smashed, I don't know how because it was like 3 feet underground, but non the less it was broken and water was leaking everywhere. So we couldn't shower or use the bathroom and ended up back up at Andy's parents to get ready for church. Is nice to be home owners :)
