New York: Day 3

Day 3:  I think this day was my favorite of the whole trip!!  We went to The Sacred Grove.  This was an experience I will never forget.  The leaves were all changing color and it was absolutely beautiful, it was exactly how I pictured it being when Joseph Smith knelt there in prayer so many years ago.  Even though I learned that It most likely happened in the Spring when there is hardly any leaves, and it's not very pretty :)  We didn't take a tour, we just went on our own and enjoyed the Spirit that was so strong. The boys ran around a little bit and picked up rocks and sticks, but for the most part they were super reverent, it's like they could tell we were somewhere special.

Then we went and toured the Smith Farm. It was so fun to do this with Andy's parents.  Since they had been there had learned so many neat and fun little stories that don't usually get told.  It was like having our own personal tour guides the entire time.

Later we went and walked around the Palmyra Temple.  Again, Pete and Charlotte told us about all of the architecture and how pretty much everything on the temple is symbolic, even down to the sidewalk around the grounds.
This window is the only window in all of the temples in the world that you can see out of.  President Hinckley wanted everyone who went inside to be able to look out that window and be able to see The Sacred Grove. The next picture is the view from that window.

Then Andy's parents dropped Andy and I off at the Grandin building where the printing press is located that printed the first copies of the Book of Mormon.  It's crazy how much detail went into that, and how patient you would have to be to be able to do that for such a large book, and so many copies of it!

Then Andy's mom decided that we had better go and do something fun for the kids.  She had found this pumpkin patch before we came and wanted to take the kids there.  It was way fun, and a good way to burn some of the kids energy. And, you will notice in some of the pictures, ours energy too :)
